Text size, Layouts and Themes

Open the navigation panel and select Aa at the bottom. Settings opens beside the page, so the book shows each change as you make it. Outside a book, the same settings are on the Settings page.

Under Reading

  • Size: Smaller text and Larger text change the size in steps from Small to Extra large.
  • Flow: Scroll or Paged.
  • Mode: Light, Dark or Auto.
  • Layout sets typeface, spacing, alignment and width. Built-in Layouts are Publisher (the book's own design, the default), Classic, Open and Compact.
  • Theme sets page colors. Light Themes are Paper (default), White and Sepia. Dark Themes are Dark (default), True Black and Slate. Picking a Theme from the other mode switches between light and dark.

Light, dark and Auto

Choose Light, Dark or Auto under Mode in Settings, or with the theme button in the header on pages outside a book. Auto follows your device. Light and dark each keep their own chosen Theme.

Making your own

Select ⋯ beside a Layout or Theme and choose Edit… to open the editor, or choose New. In a book the editor opens beside the page; on the Settings page it shows a sample page. The same ⋯ menu has Duplicate, and for your own items Rename… and Delete….

  • Layout: typeface (Publisher, Literata, Book serif, Modern serif, Humanist sans, System sans), line, paragraph, word and character spacing, paragraph indent, alignment, hyphenation, line breaking, how character names appear in plays, and page width (Narrow, Comfortable, Wide).
  • Theme: background, text, secondary text and border colors, an accent color, and how Book images look (Auto, Original, Invert, Color match).

Choose Save to update your own item or Save as… to name a new one. Built-in Layouts and Themes can only be saved under a new name. Revert undoes unsaved edits. If you switch with unsaved changes, ManyNote asks whether to keep them.

What syncs

Layouts and Themes you save sync to every device where you are signed in, up to 20 of each. Which ones are selected, unsaved edits, text size, flow and light or dark mode stay on each device.
